Chail Palace
Chail Palace Himachal Pradesh
Much away from the hush bush of Shimla is a quite faint town of Chail, located on a hill top overlooking Shimla, founded by The Maharaja of Patiala as his Summer capital when he was expelled from Shimla by the British Viceroy. Chail is one of the most beautiful hill stations I have ever been too. At an altitude of 2250m, and just one hour drive from Shimla, the HPTDC Chail Palace was our stay which was the palace of the Maharaja. heard a lot of reviews of the place, and so booked the Rajkumar room via online. We reached the palace by dark, and the feel of driving into a thick paved jungle was the feel as we proceeded to the reception. Its a palace in its regal pomp one of the well maintained HPTDC properties to mention. The next morning wake up early to walk and see around. Spread in 75 acres, and was built in 1891. Each rooms are named in royalty as Maharaja, Maharani, Rajkumar, Rajkumari suites, and then there are cottages and log huts. The bar and restaurant is also good having a wide variety of local and international cusines. Childrens park, billiards, lawn tennis are also available, but the best is to take long walks in the lap of nature. Here is a picture guided tour
