It is a cantonment town of Uttarakhand. A small peaceful hill station where one can visit in a group. The tiger waterfalls are further 35kms away from the main market. At this time there was no water so we didn't venture out. The drive to Chakrata may have landslides in the monsoon season so one has to check out for the updates of the route.

There are a few temples like the Hano mahasu temple and the Lakhmandal temple to be seen here. Small treks can be done like the one to the tiger falls, mundali etc. Best time to visit is throughout the year. It snows here in winter. Kharamba peak is a 10,000 ft trek.

Other places to see include:-

  • Tiger fall
  • Budher or Miona caves 30kms away
  • Deoban offers views of the Himalayas.
  • A walk of 15mins to Vyas Shikhar where Vyas wrote Mahabharata.

  • Some pics....
    The drive

Renukaji is 120kms away, located in the valley of mountains, just adjacent to the lake and temple. Our stay was at HPTDC The Renuka , the first wing of the hotel, which was in the colonial style with high roofs and a fire place, wheras the other wing is newly constructed. The rooms were huge, well kept and neat. Service time is long, whether it is room service or table service. No of staff are less.

There is boating in the lake

    Parking

Feeding fish....The lake has a circumference of 2.5kms and is fed with underwater springs with rich plant and animal life.

    The temple

    A walk around the pond

A walk around the lake which hosts a mini zoo...
