Stay - Kikar Lodge in Ropar
Disatnce - 300kms
Drive time - approx 7.5 hours with breaks

The month of May and when it is supposed to be blistering hot, the climatic disturbances create a wet weekend, the most pleasurable part of our stay in Kikar. Rooms cost us 12k for a family suite pool facing, three meals included. Well nearby to Delhi and in the midst of 1800 acre jungle, and a lot of recommendations from fellow travelers, Kikar had to be explored.

We start early morning at 5am and reach the place by 12.30pm. It is well marked in google maps, and once we leave the highway and take the interior routes the directions are well marked. As we leave the highway, the feel of leaving away the city and entering the lush green vegetation itself is rejuvenating.

There are two entry gates and as we pass through we get the feel of driving into the paved wilderness. The landscaping and markings are well done. A couple of cars are parked in the parking area, the path leads to a landscaped upfront which is the reception, check in was smooth, luggage was picked up and dropped fast. No airtel or Vodafone works, just BSNL. Wifi is also paid here.

The rooms were fairly ok with all amenities, but lacked plug points. There was hardly one and we had to charge our gadgets with multi plugs. Bathrooms are ok, hot water has timings I guess, anyway it was not available during our visit, tea, coffee sachets and kettle are provided.

This kind of a amused me

Ours was the pool view rooms, there are garden and forest view rooms also.

There were two pools in front of our room, although the dense greenery gives ample privacy to the pool bathers. There are many walk paths in the complex where once can take a stroll. The pool was occupied by a group so didn't venture there.

By early eve the climate began to darken up and rains were here. It was a beautiful sight to see the trees sway in the wind, with unanticipated flashes of lightning and thunder. As the rain stopped, took a short walk around the place and to the top of the mountain where took this classic shot. The entire resort looked like sprinkled blossoms in the verdant green jungle.

Adventure activities include atvrides, paint ball, horse riding, zip lining etc...The atvs parked and zip lining banner

The lunch, dinner and breakfast were good, staff are courteous, Rotis and naans are served hot. The breakfast area.

Early morning one can take long walks around, there are a number of trails to explore. Just the nature and you is the highlight of the place. Overall its a good place to enjoy your weekend with some friends.....and don't look out for a perfect stay!
